If you are in York, Pennsylvania or anywhere near there for that matter, you might want to pay attention to the following stories about Craigslist scams. It seems like the majority of these scams happen virtually across the country, with little or no variation. A perfect example is the housing scam. Sooner or later, the odds are going to come up against you. It happens again and again. People are being scammed out of their money right and left by people who post on Craigslist advertising houses for rent or for sale.
This is one of the most prevalent scams on the entire site and it happens in every large city and small town across the country. In this particular case, it did happen and not only were people scammed out of their money, they were robbed of everything they had on them at the time. This is yet another story of a person who put money down on a house, thinking they were going to be able to move in, only to find that someone else actually owned the house entirely.
They occur everywhere else in the country, too. One that was mentioned in the above story was about the housing scam, which has already been thoroughly covered here. The other two involve scalping tickets to events and hiring movers who are definitely not in the moving business, but they are in the business of taking your goods and your money and running off with both of them.
At least this one is different. It involves a home inspector that would find items that had been left inside foreclosed homes. He decided that since the homes had been foreclosed on, he would simply help himself to those items and then sell them on Craigslist.
